This Week in Turkey had two guests this week. First, journalist and radio producer Sami Kent joined us to speak about his journalistic work during the pandemic in Turkey. Mr. Kent spoke about his study of Istanbul’s death toll numbers and what it revealed about the pandemic in Istanbul. Mr. Kent also spoke about his experience in the southeastern province of Van and how the pandemic is being managed there. Mr. Kent also assessed the ways in which journalism was being conducted in the shadow of the pandemic. The second guest of the week was journalist and academic Kenan Sharpe with whom we discussed the new Turkish Netflix production, Ethos. Ethos created quite a storm upon its release; Mr. Sharped assessed what about the series is different compared to other Turkish productions both on Netflix and other platforms.
