This Week in Turkey‘s guest was human rights defender and chair of the Turkish Medical Association, Professor Şebnem Korur Fincancı. Professor Fincancı evaluated the government’s revelation of the asymptomatic cases across Turkey and whether or not this was an important shift in its health communication strategy. Moreover, Professor Fincancı also spoke about the preventative measures to curb the spread of the virus, announced earlier in the week. She spoke about the problems with such measures, and suggested others that would be more effective in bringing down the spread rate. Professor Fincancı also spoke about the pressure on the healthcare system as well as the state of healthcare workers. Finally, Professor Financı spoke about the vaccination plan revealed by the Ministry of Health.
