Kol and Erel have been accused of “mobbing” and “forgery of official documents.”
The investigation into referee misconduct was launched on September 29th. A total of seven individuals have been detained thus far in connection with the matter.
Deputy Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that the operation was conducted based on complainant and witness statements, expert reports, and records from Turkey’s Financial Crimes Investigation Board.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) issued a written statement regarding the developments, promising to restore public confidence in the institution and strengthen the principles of “clean football” and “fair play.”
Prior to the arrest of Kol and Erel, five individuals—including Central Referee Board (MHK) Chairman Ferhat Gündoğdu—were arrested on October 3rd. A ban on international travel was imposed on two of the five detained.
