First confession in the murder of Narin Güran: “Her uncle gave me her body in a sack, I took it to the creek”

Following the harrowing discovery of 8-year-old Narin Güran’s body, authorities detained 24 suspects. Reportedly one of the suspects has made a confession, stating, “The village mayor gave me her body in a sack, and I took it to the creek.” Narin was laid to rest in her hometown, Tavşantepe, Diyarbakır.

Narin had been missing since August 21 in Diyarbakır, sparking a frantic search. Her lifeless body was found on September 8 in a sack, two kilometers from the village in the Eğertutmaz Creek. As part of the investigation, 24 people, including family members, were arrested.

According to Sabah news, an unnamed suspect was caught on surveillance cameras driving to the creek. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that Narin’s uncle, village mayor Salim Güran, had given him her body in a sack. The suspect then disposed of the body in the creek.

Following this confession, authorities expanded their investigation. The autopsy revealed that 91 samples were taken from Narin’s body. Her left leg had been severed at the knee, and bone fragments were sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute for further analysis.

Not the First Death in the Family

In light of Narin’s death, journalist Emrullah Erdinç raised a troubling issue on *Habertürk News*. Erdinç claimed that this was not the first child death in the family. He reported that Narin had an older disabled sister who died years ago after falling down the stairs. Her death was ruled an accident, and no autopsy was performed. Erdinç stated:

“The Güran family had another disabled child who died years ago, supposedly from a fall. The case was closed quickly. Given the circumstances of Narin’s death, it’s crucial to revisit this earlier case. Since the sister was buried without an autopsy, we need to determine if her death was truly accidental or if something else was involved. We should exhume her grave and conduct DNA tests to resolve any doubts about the cause of her death.”

Final Farewell

Narin’s autopsy was completed on the evening of September 8, and her body was returned to her family the following morning. A funeral was held at a mosque in Batı Karakoç, and she was laid to rest in her village of Tavşantepe.
