An autopsy has been released by investigators in the Narin Güran murder case. THe 8-year-old girl from Turkey’s southeastern Diyarbakir province went missing August 21st. Weeks of search efforts had failed to uncover a trace of her until her dead body was discovered on Sunday (September 8).
The autopsy released Monday (September 9) detailed that Narin’s left leg was broken below the knee.
The autopsy failed to conclusively determine a cause of death, and the report noted that the body was discovered in a partially decomposed state. Investigators were unable to locate any gunshot or sharp-piercing wounds.
24 individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the murder, including close family members such as Narin Güran’s uncle, mother, father, and two siblings. As such, the 8-year-old’s funeral over the weekend after the discovery of her body in a nearby creek took place in the absence of the numerous detainees.

- First confession in the murder of Narin Güran: “Her uncle gave me her body in a sack, I took it to the creek”
Yesterday (September 9), one of the detainees came forth with a confession, alleging that Narin’s uncle had given him the girl’s body in a bag and given him 200,000 Turkish Liras to dispose of the remains. Narin’s uncle, currently a chief suspect in the investigation, has denied killing his niece.
In addition to Narin Güran’s uncle, Salim Güran, the investigation has also focused on her mother and brother as prime suspects. While her mother has given several contradictory statements on her disappearance, her brother was detained due to several bite marks on his arm that forensic investigators matched to his younger sister.
